What is a Network?

What is a network? First, we’re talking about a computer network here, not to be confused with a social network or professional network.

Networks connect computers, printers, phones, tablets and many other devices together to allow them to share resources, and communicate electronically. 

You can access the internet on your phone because your phone connects to a network.

A network uses many different technologies. These include copper cables, fibre optics, and WiFi to connect devices together.

Other devices, like switches and routers, help to send information to the right places.
